Wedding favor help!?
I am racking my brain and looking at every site on the internet...what are some good wedding favor ideas for a September wedding?
** I'm already using personalized candy, so please don't suggest that. **
My wedding is small (around 30 people) and I want to get something meaningful, but without breaking the bank. I'm using personalized Hershey Kisses in a sheer red bag that matches my flowers, but I wanted to get another favor (non-edible) for my guests to remember the day by.
Wedding favor help!?
The Kisses will be enough.
I wouldn't spend your valuable time or resources on non-edible favors. Chances are most of the guests will leave them anyway. No one needs more "stuff".
Let them take home memories of the day instead.
Reply:Friends of ours make homemade wine, so they gave a bottle of wine with special labels they had printed up with the couple's picture and names and the wedding date. I like the idea of something useful that will remind your guests of you each time they use it, but that also reflects your and your fiance's interests. Like an engraved corkscrew if you're wine people, or a cake server if you're into baking, or embroidered lawn chairs if you're into camping. A CD of songs that you both like? You could burn those yourselves. How about a CD of pictures of you both growing up? It can be on a PowerPoint program so it scrolls through with music playing. Good luck, and congratulations.
Reply:Why don't you try Michael's or Pier One? They sometimes have nice things that are not that expensive that would make great favors for a wedding. Cute mugs with your pictures, or a nice picture frame with your engagement/wedding photo. Since the wedding is small, the favors can afford to be more than little plastic knick=knacks that people throw away. I would suggest the frames, since they give a more personal touch to the favor.
Reply:how about making dvd with picture of u and your love one engament pictures or whatever with your song on it and picture in front of dvd or case since its only 30 guess u can do it yourself or someone else can
Reply:Even though you've said you've looked all over the internet I found this site, that I thought was great!
http://www.myweddingfavors.com/
Thoough some of my own ideas. If you got professional photos done of you and your fiance`, then get small one made, then put them into color cordinated frames (like the colors to match your flowers or color scheme) then attach a fake fall leaf to one of the cornors and write or print out something that says " Sally Sue an Johnny Boy celebrated the union of holy matramony on September, 56th 2008" or something with obviously the right information. But check out that site. It's a great site with the perfect thing somewhere on there, escpecially for such a small wedding. The prices are great too. Good Luck Hun, and congrats on the wedding!!
Reply:Personally engraved flower vases were on I've seen at a wedding and I still have it.
or as another friend did, freeze dried flower bouquets/garlands,/centerpieces in her wedding colors that could be sent home w/ each family, I still have a garland from that too!
but If you really want it to be memorable think outside the box, and of somthing useful

the prices are pretty inexpensive, and there are many ideas. i only looked at the first page, but i saw some pretty clever ideas. my personal favorites are the stop in the name of love bottle stoppers (http://www.americanbridal.com/love-bottl... the airplane luggage tags (http://www.americanbridal.com/luggage-ta... and the tea lights (the "set sail ones-http://www.americanbridal.com/sailboat-t... or the "teacups and tealights"- http://www.americanbridal.com/tealight-h...
i hope you find these ideas useful, and congratulations!
Reply:Candles are always a great wedding favor. How about these ones:
http://www.favorfavor.com/page/FF/CTGY/F...

Reply:I found a candle that would go with a fall theme.
http://www.americanbridal.com/mini-apple...
Reply:I don't want to tell you how to spend your money but from a guests standpoint I don't WANT anything that's non-edible. Usually speaking it's not going to go with my home or even worse will have something "wedding" on it and will get tossed or left behind. I don't want to be offensive but I really have reason to want to remember YOUR wedding for the rest of my life. If I do, thats what pictures are for. I want to remember that I had a great time with good food and awesome people, not that I got a engraved picture frame or a candle.
Use the money to upgrade something like the food, bar, or the music. That's what I'll remember. I appreciate the bride and groom are appreciative that I came but just stop with the dust bunny collectors.
Reply:For my upcoming wedding we did donations to our three favorite charities. You could do just one or what ever you would like. We made our donation in honor of our wedding and in rememberance of those who will not be present on our wedding day. With the donation, we can choose to either get a scroll, a card or sometimes some other form of a paper favor. We put ours in envelopes that i decorated and they will be set at each place setting. We just added the decorated envelope because those are our only favors. For you since you have the candies and bags you might want to opt for a scroll. to place next to the bags at each place setting.
Here are some great places that do wedding favor donations:
www.diabetes.org
www.idfoundation.org
www.americancncersociety.org
http://www.aspca.org/site/PageServer?pag...
OR you can also check your local charities like childrens hospitals, humane society, cancer research centers, etc.
Good luck!
Reply:the best wedding favor i ever got was a pic of the bride and groom, a mini one of the one we signed at the guest book. if you can, you can have the pic in black and white, with something accent in red. that always looks nice. :)
Reply:I packaged tulip bulbs in clear, candy bags and tied them up with a pretty ribbon. Guests plant them when they go home (before the first frost) and they have a reminder of your wedding in the spring! You can get a bag of assorted bulbs at Sam's Club for $10 and the bags at any craft store for a couple of dollars.

What can I do for my uncle?
My uncle is in the hospital with heart failure %26amp; many other health problems. His chances of survival are not good and he (as well as our family) is aware that his days may be numbered. He's called an attorney into his hospital room to update his will so he is realistic about his odds. He is 9 hours away so I cannot get to see him quickly. However, I want to do something nice for him and his wife. I am already sending him a "thinking of you/praying for you card" but want to do something more. It's just difficult to think of anything. Since he is in a hospital, he's on a strict diet, so I can't send a food basket or any other kind of edible treat. He's a very "man's man" so he would not appreciate flowers or balloons. I'm just stumped as to what I can do to let them know I care without making them feel like I'm trying to say "goodbye. I don't think you're going to make it". Any suggestions would be appreciated.
What can I do for my uncle?
Do you have any fond memories of him you can write down, maybe some photos of you together. Are you artistic at all, you could make him so,mething that his wife could cherish after he is gone; photo collage, poem, painting, drawing? Gifts from the heart mean the most.
Reply:Make a home video telling him how much you love him along with a care package. I'm sure he will appreciate the thought.
Reply:make a donation, in his name, to the heart association or perhaps to the hospital (infant wing) itself,,,any amount would benefit some one in his honor

My wedding is less than three weeks away....?
and I'm really not that stressed. Not that I'm complaining, but everyone has been telling me that brides always get really stressed this close to the wedding. I am getting really excited and just slightly nervous, but not stressed out.
I've contacted the florist and the flowers are good. Paid for and all arrangements made.
The gal baking my cake knows the plan and has already started making the decorations. (They are non-edible picks that go all over the cake.) Also paid for.
The pastor has everything on his schedule.
My dress is already fitted and pressed, waiting to be put on.
My fiance's tux arrangements are set. We go on the twentieth for final fitting and pick up. (The weddings on the 25th.)
The decorations are all set, just have to put them up the day before. The reception is cake and punch and the church women's group is taking care of that.
The rings are with my mom.
The bridesmaids and groomsmen have their clothing set.
The invitations were sent out.
My wedding is less than three weeks away....?
i wasn't nervous either...some ppl just aren't. no big deal. i HATE that ppl think we are suppose to "act" a certian way.
personally i think some ppl that act that way just do it because they think they have to for some reason.
i was cool as a cucumber...even when my dad was half an hour late because of a tire blowing out LOL...never sweat the small stuff...i had my guests there, my groom there...no body was going anywhere..we just waited. HA!
BUT...i didn't see anything about a photographer...or the grooms gift.
ya know...i think some ppl don't bother w/ a grooms gift, but thought i'd mention it. my hubby and i didn't mess w/a gift we just sent a card to each other before so we could read something sweet from one another.
and ya got the old fashion stuff...something old, something new, something barrowed, something blue?
Reply:Congratulations!!
Don't worry, if you have everything set, then you're done!
Don't be worried about not being worried enough!!
Reply:I didn't get stressed out either....until the day of. Just a little advice...no matter what happens on your wedding day, nothing is as important as enjoying the experience. I wasn't a bridezilla at all, UNITL at the reception the chocolate fountain started clumping and the attendant was nowhere to be found and I freaked!! I wish I had been as level headed as I had been all the months leading up to that awesome day! :)
Reply:It seems like everything is in order...just make sure that you have a schedule of events for the day of that you send to all of your vendors...that way everyone knows what is going on and when. Congrats and good luck!!
Reply:No your not forgetting anything. see you are a little stressed! Everything should just go perfect! good luck with everything! and congrats!
Reply:Hmm...I dont' think I noticed anything about a photographer in there???
Reply:I was never stressed out when I got married. I think too many people worry about all those things that don't really matter. So what if your flowers are wrong? All that matters is at the end of the day you got married!
Reply:Sounds like you have everything in order, I've got 2 weeks till mine and i feel the same, I'm not that stressed but very excited. I still am paying for things so don't worry everything has a way of working out. One of my bridesmaids still hasn't had her dress altered. But I'm not stressed. You will be so beautiful on your day and no one will be worrying about how things turned out just that you and your hubby are married and are happy. good luck babe and congrats, have a wonderful life together. :-D
Reply:It sounds like everything is set-not everyone is stressed before they get married. Most ppl become stressed because everything isn't done yet,. But it sounds as if u have everything ready so you can relax and not worry about not begin stress.
Reply:The only thing left for you to have is your bachelorette party. Then sit back and relax. Remember DO NOT get drunk you really do want to remember your day. Make sure you do the meet and greet with all of your guests. You will be fine and it will go without a problem. Have fun. Good luck to you and your fiance and I wish you the best in the future.

Reply:BREATHE!!!! I got married just a month ago. There will be something that doesn't go right, it's OK! I was 40 min late and we forgot the best man. you're gonna do fine. My advise, the day of, eat before you get to the ceremony. i promise you'll feel better by the time dinner hits, if you get a chance to eat. go thru your list of thing you personally need to do, and all the rest, give to you bridesmaids, that's what their there for... to help you! it's gonna be a hectic week, but make sure you tell the groom you love him, he's just as stressed as you, even if it doesn't show!
Reply:seems to me like your very well organized just be thank ful that your not stressed and i wish u a very happy wedding and future
Reply:I'm not sure what your question is, but I'm assuming you're wondering about your lack of "butterflies" over your upcoming wedding. If you're normally a calm, collected, non-emotional person, then I wouldn't worry about not worrying (ha ha). But if you normally are, then maybe your lack of excitement is due to the fact that you haven't totally bought into the idea of marriage. If that is the case, you might lose a deposit on cake and flowers, but that is a small price to pay compared to a lifetime committment. Do some soul searching: If you are in love and want to spend the rest of your life with this guy, stop worrying and enjoy one of the greatest moments in your life. If you are simply going through the motions because it is the right thing to do...take a deep breath and end this thing now.
Reply:seriously, I think you have it together, I think a lot of the stress we brides put on ourselves is partially for attention. If you are organized, in touch with your people and have it all done sometime before hte last minute which you have done all of, you should be ok! chill out and enjoy this, you were smart in the beginning obviously, so now you can enjoy it! congrats!
Reply:No, sounds like you've got it all under control. I think, most of the stress seems to come from wanting everything to be "perfect", but it sounds like you realize that there's no such thing as "perfect", there's only such thing as "something you really like".
My wedding was totally informal, but I was very stressed nevertheless - mostly because my in-laws disapproved of the very "informality" of the wedding, and I was worried that they wouldn't like it! It turned out great, tho, with a lot of help from my friends - but I couldn't have known ahead of time, and was very worried that I wouldn't be pleasing some very important people! So I think it all depends on the mindset, not as much on the actual arrangements themselves.
Reply:Sounds like you are well planned and organized. Now just focus on your fiance and any needs of his. (Like reassurance or going out on a few last dates that you don't talk about wedding plans.)
I wasn't stressed either after all the decisions were made.
Reply:Sit down, have a coffee or whatever helps relax you and just imagine that in three weeks time it will all be over. No more stress, over wedding at least, and you'll be a happily married woman. Can tell how excited you are and that is great. Even if everything doesn't go 100% as planned it is your day and enjoy it. You'll laugh soon enough about how stressed out this is making you. Good luck.
Reply:dont worry about it then. everythign seems to be in order. the reason other ppl stress is having to do stuff at the last minute. but enjoy your preparedness and the wonderful day :)
Reply:I was the same way. I suggest getting all of the things around the house into one central location, so nothing will be forgotten. There's always something. But for the most part, I was in your position. I had everything done, and kept coming up with more things to do, spending our honeymoon money. Fortunatelly the honeymoon was all inclusive and it didnt make much of a difference.
Reply:Well done you, it seems that you have covered all angles, so sit back and enjoy the fruits of your labour.
Reply:No, sounds like smooth sailing - our wedding was the same way. Relax and Enjoy!!
Reply:It's great that you are not stressed. It must be nice to be so organized. Enjoy and Best Wishes.
Reply:DON'T FORGET TO BUY THE MARRIAGE LICENSE! I know this may seem nuts but I had EVERYTHING ready for my wedding (May 2005) and my family had already boarded planes to come to it when my sister said "You didn't forget your marriage license, did you?" I freaked out and couldn't believe I hadn't even thought about it. I had 45 minutes to get my fiance out of work and down to the licensing place before they closed. It was a VERY close call.
Reply:Sounds like you have your head on straight. Those bridezillas on TV are just examples of control freaks. I say once those weddings are over they will probably be hard to live with. Reply:What is your question?
Passover dinner customs?
I have been invited to a friends house for Passover dinner. He is preparing all of the food and told us not to bring any food because it would not be kosher. I am not Jewish and don't realy know so much about the restrictions. Is there anything that I can bring? He doesn't drink, but I was thinking flowers or soemthing that is non-edible. Any ideas?
Passover dinner customs?
flowers would be a perfect gift and it is a nice gesture.
good luck!
Happy Passover.

Reply:It may be a little late but a lovely gift would be seder plate. There are many beautiful designs handcrafted by Jewish artists. This would be something she would be able to admire year round and use on those special occasions. Everytime she used it, she would think of you. Do a search on my site, if not a seder plate, you will certainly find something that would be appropriate and appreciated.
Reply:Many things are kosher if you look for the symbol on the labels, Iike a circle with a"U" in the middle of it.
Check out a yahoo search for other ones. I date a guy who was jewish and was able to find some wines that were kosher.

Are dandelion leaves(the ones that are in your backyard and everywhere) good for blue tongue lizards (10point)
also if them leaves of the yellow dandelion flower can be edible by blue tongue lizards does it count as the leafy / vegetable / plant matter part of its diet???????? i want to know thankyouu
i will choose a best answer as soon as actually get answers lol
Are dandelion leaves(the ones that are in your backyard and everywhere) good for blue tongue lizards (10point)
Dandelion leaves would be one of the better greens to give your blue tongue lizard. Dandelions have over 103 mg of calcium per cup compared to romaine lettuce which only has about 20 mg of calcium per cup..
http://www.carrotcafe.com/f/calevel.html
Just wanted to add, it will only count towards the leafy plant matter part of it's diet. It will still have to have other veggies too.
Here's a good guide to read through,
http://bluetongueskinks.net/blue.htm
they have the best greens, fruits and veggies listed out for you..
Reply:I know they are great for a salad, not sure about your reptile, I know for most its safe, however I would double check with a website.
Reply:We just adopted in a blue tongued skink. I have heard that dandelion greens are good for them and that they love them.
Here is something that I would like to add though. Make sure if you are getting them from your yard that:
They have not been sprayed with any insecticide or any type fertilizer has not been used on or near them. Else you could very well poison your lizard.
Reply:Lizards LOVE dandelions, and they are very good for them.
BUT, I wouldn't be so keen on feeding the ones from your hard. The problem is people use chemicals on their grass, and it can grow into the plant causing it to be toxic.
You would be best to grow your own indoors. Although, I've been able to find them at a few organic stores.
Reply:humans can drink dandelion tea and take dandelion pills so i have to say, it sounds fine for your lizard!
Reply:Dandelion leaves will not do ur lizard any harm! Yes it counts as leafy plant matter, and (just to be sure i checked up on teh internet) and 1 of my friends used 2 have a blue tongues lizard and apparently they love them! Hope this helps! x
